StudentLife is a community of 6th through 12th grade students who gather weekly at McDowell for this purpose…to know the love of Jesus and experience the relevance of faith in daily life.
Learn what to expect when students come together.
Sunday mornings are designed to help students dig deeper into the Bible, as well as give them a place to learn from each other and form authentic relationships. On Sunday mornings 6–8th graders gather at 9:15 a.m., while 9–12th graders meet at 10:45 a.m.
Every week we create a high energy atmosphere and develop students with relevant teachings crafted to guide them through the challenges of their everyday lives. Through interactive games, worship, and peer & mentor connections, we believe students will have fun, encounter God, and feel welcomed.
We know ALL students need a supportive community where they can be themselves and feel accepted. Our Life Groups are communities of Middle and High school students that gather on Sunday nights from 5:30-7:30PM for 7-10 weeks to do life together. We live by this mantra— “We are a family, learning the way of Jesus, getting real about life.” That means each night we have food and fun, work through a study that challenges and strengthens our spiritual journey, and break up into small groups to open up about the real things going on in everyone’s life. In a world of empty promises and disappointments, students crave meaning, fulfillment, and authenticity. Life Groups are the next step to go deeper in faith and friendship. Registrations open in the fall and winter.
We place value in developing lasting and transparent relationships. This can only happen if we take time to invest in one another by getting together and living life together. Every month, StudentLife offers Low Key events that are designed to gather a small group of students for time to simply be together. These events range from morning coffee, movie nights, pickup sports, etc. Low Key events create the opportunity to build stronger relationships with students and coaches in a casual environment. No registration. No forms to fill out. Just show up and have some fun.
Low Key events are shared in our StudentLife weekly newsletter, our social media and during our announcement time at our gatherings.
Students may choose to take their faith a step further by serving on our Student Leadership Team: M68. The name comes from Micah 6:8 which states, “Act justly, love mercy, walk humbly with Your God.” These principles have become the Student Leadership Team’s mission and purpose. Our M68 team is the voice of StudentLife. M68 steers StudentLife events, serves in our ministry and dreams up unique and relevant ways for students to encounter Christ.
Applications to join M68 take place each year in July. Students on the team meet on the first Sunday of each month from August-May to fulfill the school year commitment.
